The Story
The Franklins are a band of lunatics from Belleville, IL. Their approach is to start with a “Song Sketch” and then “ Flesh” it out in the rehearsal space over time. The two guitar stylists are especially respective of each other's ability and contribution to the writing process. Dan, the Lyricist and basic format leader starts with a premise, lyrically and musically. Then, Joe lends his particular expertise to the chord forms, solos, and arrangements. Then, the rhythmn section takes their turn. They apply the groove, fills, and the feel to the song with fine precision. Finally, the whole thing gets a varnish that comes from years of experience and dedication to the craft, and voila, “Music”.!! Okay, it might be a little more detailed than that, but you get the picture.
Coming from various backgrounds, and having experience in multiple categories, Rock, Country, Jazz, Blues, even some Americana, these guys draw from all of their soul experiences to meld styles that compliment and challenge each other. This is evident in the carefully crafted musical puzzles with a backbeat on this, their first offering. Dan, Songwriter, guitar & lead vocal, is a Tennessee transplant. Joe and Carl, guitar & Drums respectively, both hail from Belleville. Ken, bass, is a native of California, magically materialized in the area a few years back. Alisha LaFlamme, daughter of David and Linda LaFlamme from the Bay area band, “It's a Beautiful Day”, Vocals and Violin, adds her classical training to the mix. Vernon, keyboards, lays in a little texture and some depth. No one is sure why or how, Pennsylvania's finest and most famous publisher, chose these melodic troubadours to speak directly to you (the curious) about subjects of passion and perspective, but ours is not to question why… Only Ben knows why Ben does and he hasn't spoken in quite some time. So strap-in, sit back and be transported, there's life on this world and it needs a spokesgroup. I leave you in capable hands with incredible heads and a bit of the old electric spark for good measure. I give you,
Franklin's Band
